This place is for the Birds

Australia is known for it's colourful birds and parrots. People come from all over the world to see and photograph them. Here is bumbler doing his best statue impersonation...notice how all the birds have fallen for this simple trick. Actually the trick is on bumbler, you know what birds do on statues don't you??

One of the worlds most famous statues is the one called "The Thinker". Here bumbler is posing in a position very similar to that famous statue in an effort to look clever with a bird on his head. Unfortunately that rock under his backside looks more like a heap of manure than anything else. I think we will have to call this picture "The Stinker"... Note how even the birds have moved away.

Glenys and I had a wonderful time feeding the rainbow lorikeets at Currumbin Bird Sanctuary. It is an amazing sight to see literally hundreds of birds come swooping down from the trees to drink the nectar in the pans we were holding. The lorikeets are probably the most beautiful birds that I have ever seen. The reason for the look on my face is that just as this picture was taken the bird on my head decided that it was time to release a bit of processed nectar. Timing I guess is the heart of all things.

There comes a time in every persons life when they have had enough bird poop dropped on them. That time came very soon for Glenys and she took up the cameras and left me to fend for myself with the birds. So she handed me her plate and stood back in safety while I was attacked. The best part of this photo is that you can see all the colors on these magnificent birds as one gets ready to land on the plate. At least the one on my head had better control than the other.
