The Places we went - will they ever be the same?

One of the most fun days we had was when we went to dreamworld. We took Glenys' two children, Dan and Rebecca, with us or maybe they took us would be more correct as Beck ran ahead excitedly leading the way most of the day. They even managed to talk Rick into trying one of the wilder rides, The Wipeout. Although it looks scary, it was really a very fun and safe ride....Though Glenys chickened out. She was good in that she volunteered to photograph us. It was a wonderful family day out and I know how much it meant to all of us to be able to do that together.

No..we haven't entered a wild jungle..this was a pic of us taken at "The Big Pineapple" ..it is a pineapple and macadamia nut plantation..we found the bamboo cane was pretty BIG there too as you can see. The tops of them towered about 30 feet above us. We had a lovely time wandering around looking at all the fresh pineapples and wonderful nuts. We did manage to get a few nuts to take back with us and crack on our own.....that's no easy feat because the shells are as hard as rocks. Glenys was a wonderful hostess and shouted ice cream...we felt that we could use the pick me up after feeling so dwarfed by the bamboo cane although it was nice to actually feel small for once in our lives.

Here is Rick standing at the lookout above Moran Falls. This is part of O'Reillys Mountain and on a clear day you can see all the way to Mt Warning. The trouble is that we didn't have a clear day and the view was rather limited. The swirling mist in the valley gave the place a very eerie and magical look. And we expected something to come charging out of the mist at anytime.

2 weeks later and it was still raining but that didn't stop us from venturing up to the lookout over the Glass House Mountains ..here is Rick looking rather like a drowned rat yet again. The red car in the forground is Glenys' car...and Glenys reckons it is a great pic of her car. The mountains were named by Captain Cook who thought that their sides looked like glass, athought it did look like rock to us. They are a small group of volcanic cores (about 6 - 7 ) and are stuck in an otherwise flat plain that would have been a bugger of a place to live when they were active.
