Ettamogah Style

Here is the Queensland edition of the famed Ettamogah Pub, that was made famous in the comic strip. The pub itself has no straight walls and everything is all angles. On the roof is a delivery truck and the whole thing has a slightly impossible air. On the plus side there were a number of very practial messages painted in large letters across the building. It was noted in one travel magazine that this valuable public service has been a tradition at the Ettamogah Pub since it's inception.

Deciding to introduce myself to the locals..I sat down with this lively couple. They seemed a little short on conversation..but of course that never stopped me. I put it down to that they must have had a pot or two of beer before I joined them. I did notice that they were completely free of fruit flies and there wasn't a single bug on either of their bumpers, so the advertising outside must have had some truth to it after all. The one side effect I did notice though was that they seemed to suffer from very poor posture and a tendency to fall out of their seats.

The Pub boasts it's own riding stables..but like most things here it is never quite what it seems. The thoroughbreds here are a little different from what you might expect. These poor camels earned their hay this day lugging us around the grounds..they were two humped camels when they started but we squashed the second hump right off them.

No tourist trap would be complete without a gift shop and like all the others there is one here. The shop assistant in the background thought he may have a sale here which explains his huge smile .. but Rick decided he was just not cut out to be another crocodile dundee. The deal really broke down when the shop assistant refused to have the teeth on the hat sent out for a good cleaning and Rick noticed that they needed a few fillings.
